On Saturday, December 8, we will be visiting the Paterson Habitat for Humanity to participate in a housing build program. As part of our efforts we'll be observing site safety practice and making recommendations back to the H4H office. But mostly we'll be doing good work and having fun.

Site and work details will be sent to participants. General information on Habitat for Humanity work days follows:

  1. We build five days a week, Tues-Sat, year round. We complete approx. 10 homes each year.
  2. Day starts at 7:45am and ends 3:15pm. Commitment is one day at a time.
  3. No experience required. We hope that each volunteer is willing to do whatever is required on that day. You may be handling a hammer, paintbrush, broom or shovel.
  4. Brownbag lunch or arrange for delivery of pizza, etc.
  5. Bring any medications you may need. (EpiPen, asthma inhaler, etc.)
  6. Wear old clothes. Dress in layers for inside or outside work. No sandals or flipflops.
  7.  Bring work gloves and a personal water bottle (we have large water jugs on site). If you have safety glasses and a nail apron, bring them, but don’t purchase only for this one day.
  8.  Please make sure we have a cell phone number for last minute contact.
  9.  You always report in the morning to 146 N. 1st St., and then are directed to the construction site. You must provide transportation to const. site.
  10.  Groups: Maximum group size: 25 weekdays; 10 Saturdays. Large groups may be split up in order to best use the manpower and give each volunteer a meaningful experience.
  11. Youth: Minimum age is 16, and ages 16 & 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Youth group ratio is 4:1, maximum 10 in group.
