December 2013 Holiday Meeting

Avoiding the Silo Syndrome...Remember it Takes Two to Tango

Silvana L. Dominioni Bastin, CIH, CHMM, CSP

PROGRAM

5:30    Registration &  Networking
6:30    Dinner &  Business Meeting
7:15    Technical  Presentation

Topic:  Silvana’s talk is entitled "Avoiding the Silo Syndrome...Remember it Takes Two to Tango" about the daily life of an EHS professional in a corporate environment. As companies delve deeper into their sustainable programs do the project managers account for potential compliance (i.e. airborne pathogens from Rainwater harvesting, IAQ, LOTO, permitting) issues?  Ensure that you, as the EHS representative, are not working against the project team – step out of that silo and address the risks proactively in the beginning.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:  Silvana L. Dominioni Bastin graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken and earned a Masters Degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh.  Silvana is the SES Manager for the Mars drinks plant in West Chester, PA that manufactures coffee and teas.  Silvana has over 15 years of experience in the EH&S field; in the consulting, electric utility, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing and consumer products industries. In each industry I have built a strong expertise in chemical handling/waste management, energy conservation and focusing on the various aspects of potential exposure to both people and the environment. She currently lives in Wilmington, DE and her parents live in Brick, NJ.
